Luxury Halibut Fishing and Salmon Fishing in Homer Alaska

Homer Alaska

Memory Maker Charters is located in Homer, Alaska where the pristine waters of Kachemak Bay enter into Cook Inlet and Kennedy Entrance. There, you will experience world class halibut and salmon fishing, and Homer has justly earned the reputation of "Halibut Fishing Capital of the World". (Some say it is a quaint drinking village with a fishing problem!)
halibut and salmon fishing boatThe Memory Maker is 35 feet long x 11 feet wide, with a flush deck. It is powered by twin Volvo Penta diesel engines, 235 horse power each. It is an aluminum hull, built by Sea Wolf Marine. Every feature of this boat was carefully planned for your luxury and comfort for up to six passengers, while fishing halibut, salmon, or for sightseeing our beautiful area. The United States Coast Guard has awarded us a five star safety rating, which we are proud to uphold. We have state of the art electronics and safety equipment on board, including an EPIRB, 8 man life raft, high output bilge pumps, alarms, VHF radios, to mention a few. We are also certified in CPR and First Aid.

For those coming from the lower 48, it may seem cold outside, but inside we have a forced air diesel furnace that is themostatically controlled. There is hot and cold running water in the galley and in the private, and clean toilet. There is a refrigerator to keep your drinks and lunch cold. Also, there is a king size v berth, and a comfortable settee with table, and two very comfortable captains chairs. Many people nod off on their way home from an exciting day of fishing. Few people get sea sick on this boat due to the fast, smooth ride.

Top side we have a large flying bridge with two captains chairs, where you can get that perfect picture of your mate bringing in a big fish. It is perfect for spotting wildlife, including whales, otters, seals, sea lions, and a wide variety of birds and many species of fish.

On deck, we have thick commercial grade rubber mats to relieve stress to your feet and legs, and to prevent you from slipping. There are comfortable deck chairs so you don't have to stand up all day, but can still be close to your rod! Our rails are built to Coast Guard specifications, to ensure your safety at all times. Children under 13 are required by Alaska Law to wear life vests while on deck, but they are not required to be worn inside the cabin due to the boat being a documented vessel.

halibut fishing in Homer AKWe take special care with your catch as well. As soon as your halibut or salmon is caught, it is bled, and placed in our fish hold, where it is kept cold. (We have a deck hose, and our deck is always clean, tidy and safe). On arrival into the Homer Harbor, your fish will be hung up for photos, and then professionally filleted by the famous Buttwhackers. Then you have the option to have your fish vacuum packed, frozen, and shipped by Fed Ex to your home, by Coal Point Seafoods, or you may take your filleted fish with you.

Children of any age are welcome. Sometimes, we also bring Mitsy, our Lhasa Apso, who was raised on the ocean, and always provides a bit of entertainment.

If you have special needs, or requests, do not hesitate to let us know. We want to make your trip a life long memory, thus the name of our boat.
